October 31, 2025 

Teachers and students have had a smooth three days settling back into school following the Alberta teacher’s strike. It has been good to reconnect and re-establish routines. We look forward to continuing our focus on teaching and learning in the weeks ahead. 

Swimming Information 

We will be rescheduling our off-site swimming experience and will let you know the new dates soon.  

Welcome University of Calgary Pre-Service Teachers 

We are excited to welcome five pre-service teachers to James Short Memorial starting Monday, November 3rd.  They will be learning alongside JSM teachers until the spring.   

Outdoor Play and Learning 

As the weather gets colder, please remember that students will continue to spend time outdoors for learning, recess, and lunch. Be sure your child comes dressed for the weather each day. If your family needs support with winter clothing, please contact Shelley in the office. 

Indoor Shoes 

As the weather changes, it's important for students to have a pair of indoor shoes that can be left at school. If you need assistance in providing indoor shoes for your child, we have a small selection of gently used shoes available.

Time Change 

A reminder to all families that the time change is this weekend. Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour before going to bed Saturday night.
